WorkSafe ACT: Concerns about Non-Compliance with Apprentices Onsite 

WorkSafe ACT has raised serious concerns regarding non-compliance involving apprentices on building sites. These issues include apprentices not having undertaken the relevant training required to enter a building site.

All workers in the construction industry are required to have undertaken:

• 10830NAT – Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention (training is mandated from July 1, 2023)
• CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)
• 11084NAT – Course in Asbestos Awareness
• 10852NAT – Course in Working Safely with Asbestos Containing Materials (mandated for certain occupations)

WorkSafe ACT also raised a concern about the ratio of apprentice to tradesperson, with too many apprentices assigned per tradesperson.
