CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building & Construction covers the essential theoretical skills and knowledge required to work as a builder or site manager. Learn how to run a small to medium construction business and be on your way to lodging your C Class low rise residential builders license application. This course includes 20 clustered units of competency delivered across 6 blocks of training.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Enrolments are currently closed.

Course Duration: 12 - 24 months

Delivery: Remote Delivery

Time: 5.30pm - 8.30pm, two (2) nights a week on Tuesday & Thursday evenings

Study mode: Full Time or Part Time

Resources: resources are provided digitally; students will be required to use their own wi-fi compatible device to view course content and complete assessment tasks.


COST

Ex-apprentice: $650.00 per block
Member: $700.00 per block
Non Member: $800.00 per block

PRE-REQUISITE

  • Certificate III in a relevant building trade or successful completion of a pre-requisite exam.
  • Minimum 18 years old

CONTENT

MBA Group Training utilises an online learning management system (LMS) called Canvas, all resources and assessment are provided online. Students will be required to bring their own wi-fi compatible device to view course content and complete assessment tasks.

Remote sessions will be conducted online using Microsoft Teams.  Course participants must attend all remote sessions and complete the required formative and summative assessment tasks for each block. Assessment dates and expectations will be provided at the time of enrolment.

CPCCBC4001 - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 1 and 10 buildings (C)
CPCCBC4010- Apply structural principles to residential and commercial constructions (C)

CPCCBC4053 - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 2 to 9 Type C buildings (C)

CPCCBC4009 – Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects (C)
CPCCBC4024 – Resolve business disputes (Ge)

Block 3: Sustainability
CPCSUS4002 – Use building science principles to construct energy efficient buildings (E)
CPCCBC4021 – Minimise waste on the building & construction site (C)
CPCCBC4002 – Manage work health and safety in the building and construction workplace (C)
CPCCBC4014 – Prepare simple building sketches and drawings (C)

Block 4: Project & Financial Management
BSBESB407 Manage finances for new business ventures (Ge)

Block 5: Estimating & Stock Control
CPCCBC4004 – Identify and produce estimated costs for building & construction projects (E)
CPCCBC4005 – Produce labour and material schedules for ordering (E)
CPCCBC4006 – Select, procure and store construction materials for building and construction projects (E)

Block 6: Set Out & Survey
CPCCBC4007 - Plan building and construction work (C)
CPCCBC4008 - Supervise communication and administration processes for building and construction projects (C)
CPCCBC4018 - Apply site surveys and set-out procedures to building and construction projects (C)


OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building & Construction and be on their way to lodging a C Class low rise residential builders license application.
