CPC30220 – Certificate III in Carpentry

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry covers the essentials skills and knowledge required to commence your career as a qualified trades person in the construction industry. This is a trade qualification for carpenters in residential and commercial workplaces. It includes setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing products made using timber and non-timber materials.


CONTENT AND DELIVERY

This qualification contains 34 units of competency, including core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a units to address specialist fields of work. Please click here to download MBA Training’s CPC30220 unit delivery schedule.


ELIGIBILITY

This course is delivered and assessed through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement.

To be eligible for an ACT Australian Apprenticeship training contract, you must:

  • work in the ACT. This means, you must work for an ACT employer. An ACT employer is an employer with a workplace address in the ACT (Note: The employer’s workplace address must be a physical address in the ACT, not a PO Box, and the usual worksite for the Australian Apprentice), and
  • be at least 15 years of age, and
  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand passport holder resident for more than 6 months, or
  • an eligible visa holder, and
  • receive remuneration for your work, and
  • complete a minimum of 15 hours combined work and training per week, and
  • undertake an approved Australian Apprenticeships qualification with an approved registered training organisation, as listed on the ACT Qualifications Register, and
  • have the required supervision in the workplace for an Australian Apprentice.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Those wishing to undertake this course must:

  • Complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment
  • Complete an Asbestos Awareness and Silica Awareness course mandated by ACT Government
  • Complete Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) prior to commencing work a construction site – achievement of unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry covers this requirement.

 CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND TRAINING PATHWAYS

This qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications.

Occupational titles may include:

  • Carpenter – Commercial
  • Carpenter – Formwork
  • Carpenter – Residential

Further training pathways include CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction.


CERTIFICATION

Participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised CPC30220 – Certificate III in Carpentry on successful completion of this course. Participants who do not successfully complete all of the course will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for any units of competency achieved.
