Mentally Safe Sites
Mental health skills for construction supervisors and managers

You’re often the first to notice when someone on your crew isn’t themselves. This course gives you the skills to do something about it.

Mentally Safe Sites is a practical online course built for the construction industry. Over two self-paced online sessions you’ll learn to:

  • spot the early signs of mental health problems, including the alcohol and gambling harm common on site
  • start a difficult conversation with confidence, using the simple five-step CHECK in approach
  • respond safely if someone is in crisis, including how to ask directly about suicide
  • understand your duty of care and the ACT psychosocial hazards Code, and fix the work, not the worker
  • look after yourself while you look after others

Every participant gets a printable workbook, quick-reference handouts and a four-week Practice Pack, with scenario cards so your team can keep building the skill back on site.

Who it’s for: site supervisors, foremen, leading hands, project managers and anyone who leads a crew.
Format: online and self-paced, in two sessions, followed by practice in small groups.

This is a non-accredited course. It doesn’t qualify you as a counsellor; it teaches you how to notice, talk and connect people to help.

At the conclusion of this course, there will be a 10 question, multiple choice assessment.  Upon successful completion of this, a certificate of attendance will be issued.
