CPCCDE3016 – Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to identify hazards common to demolition work, and undiscovered hazards that may arise during the course of work on demolition sites. It includes assessing risks and applying risk management strategies according to compliance and workplace requirements.

It supports the induction procedure for specialist demolition workers before beginning work on site. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to demolition work in different states and territories. Candidates are advised to consult with the relevant regulatory authorities.

Course participants must hold a the following pre-requisite unit of competency prior to enrolling: CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or equivalent). A statement of attainment must be provided at the time of enrolment.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS COURSE?

From 1 March 2025, demolition licence holders must ensure demolition workers who are required to undertake licensed demolition work, have completed the course approved by SafeWork NSW: CPCCDE3016 – Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies.

A licence is required to undertake some demolition work in the ACT. A PCBU who controls the workplace, who may be a principal contractor or demolition contractor, will need to seek advice from the local WHS regulator or building regulator about whether the demolition contractor or another person undertaking the demolition work requires a licence for the work to be undertaken.

CERTIFICATION

Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the course.
