Bad backs, sore shoulders and worn-out knees aren’t just part of the job. They’re the most common serious injuries in construction, and labourers have the highest serious claim rate of any job group in the country.

Most manual handling training stops at “bend your knees”. This course goes further. Built around real construction site scenarios, it shows workers how to spot a hazardous task, what makes it riskier, and how to change the task so there’s less to lift in the first place: from getting plasterboard craned to the floor to keeping blocks off the ground.

It’s online, self-paced and works on a phone, so it fits a rainy day, a slow afternoon or a new starter’s first week.

You’ll learn how to:

  • spot the five characteristics of a hazardous manual task
  • recognise what makes a task riskier on site: the load, the task, the environment and how work is organised
  • choose controls from the top of the hierarchy, not just technique
  • report early warning signs before they become an injury
  • plan and carry out the lifts that are left, including team lifts

Who it’s for: site workers, labourers, apprentices and new starters in construction.

For employers: Need to train a whole crew? Contact us about group enrolments or face to face training.
