CEO Update: The National Leaders Summit and The Strathnairn Charity House

Posted

The National Leaders Summit

Yesterday I attended Master Builders Australia’s National Leaders Summit, along with a select number of MBA ACT members.

The summit included speeches from:

  • Josh Frydenberg, Treasurer of Australia
  • Jason Clare, Shadow Minister for Housing and Homelessness
  • Michael Sukkar, Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Housing

The event also featured a speech from the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Women, Marise Payne, launching the Women Building Australia program. The program aims to provide stronger and more varied support systems for women in the building and construction industry.  Click here to view the Women Building Australia launch video.

We also heard about the success of HomeBuilder across Australia, and the important role the construction industry plays in rebuilding the economy. We hope this understanding of the construction industry’s vital role in fueling the economy, will lead to greater long-term investment in our industry.

The Strathnairn Charity House

Master Builders ACT is excited to announce, in conjunction with Ginninderry and led by MBA member Kane Constructions, the design and construction of the 2021 Strathnairn Charity House.

The Strathnairn Charity House will be a premium home in the fast-growing suburb of Strathnairn. The house will be constructed with generous donations of local subcontractors, suppliers and service providers. Once constructed the home will be auctioned, with the proceeds of the sale donated to Hands Across Canberra for distribution to local charities.

Charity House partners will be recognised in marketing material and promotional opportunities through the construction of the project, and will be invited to attend a launch event on 12 March.

Any member who cannot provide labour, building materials or services, but is still interested in supporting the project (e.g. financial contribution or other in-kind support) are invited to contact the MBA to discuss their ideas.

Expressions of interest are required no later than Monday 1 March 2021.
