This course is suitable for workers in mining, construction, and any tradespeople who need to work at heights.

This program is delivered and assessed by Southern Training Organisation RTO 91378 in both the ACT and the South Coast region. The course covers all aspects of safe access to heights, legislative requirements, selection use and maintenance of personal protective equipment. The course consists of theory and practical training, and requires participants to complete reading tasks, written assessments and calculations. This nationally accredited course is accepted throughout industry and mining within Australia. The course is compliant with WH&S regulations and AS/NZS 1891-The Australian Standard for Working at Heights.  

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The aim of this course is to encourage the adoption of safe practices whilst working at heights and provides instruction in the correct use of access and safety equipment. This course does NOT provide detailed training on the erection of scaffolding.

PREREQUISITE

No prerequisite or co-requisite requirements for this unit of competency

No restrictions to entry to this course however, participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instructions for safety at a workplace.


CONTENT

  • Identify work area requirements
  • Follow WHS policies and procedures
  • Identify relevant WHS legislation, regulations and standards covering fall protection equipment
  • Identify approved methods of moving tools and equipment to minimise potential hazards associated with tools at heights

CERTIFICATION

On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights
