A Health and Safety Representative (HSR) is elected by members of the work group to represent them in health and safety matters. HSRs are mandatory for major projects (over $5mil) and if elected by members from the workgroup.
The rebate through the ACT Building & Construction Industry Training Fund Authority has already been factored into the cost of the ACT course.A HSR has specific duties under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. In order for a HSR to have the powers prescribed in the legislation, they must undertake the 5-day HSR training and update this training with annual refreshers. For further information on health and safety representatives and committees visit Worksafe ACT or SafeWork NSW.
