Training

MBA Group Training provides learning opportunities through industry training and education services. Safe work practices within the industry are a priority for Master Builders and expert advice is available in a range of areas including occupational health and safety requirements, industry codes of practice, education and training.

The MBA Group Training Scheme has created significant employment opportunities throughout the industry as well as provided many employer benefits. Building industry training courses are conducted throughout Canberra, the Canberra region and the South Coast.

  • Mandated Training in the ACT

    It is a requirement that all construction workers complete the Asbestos Awareness Training and General Induction Construction card training before entering a worksite.

    Asbestos Awareness Training – The regulation [section 445 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation] mandates this training for all construction occupations. 

    General induction construction card -Work Health and Safety Act 2011

    The ACT Government has made amendments to the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 to mandate that people in the below occupations, that are likely to work with materials that contain asbestos must complete the approved training course in working safely with asbestos. This course is in addition to the mandated 10675NAT – Course in Asbestos Awareness.

    Mandated occupations include:

    • 334112 Air-conditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber
    • 342111 Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic
    • 342411 Cabler (Data and Telecommunications) 8
    • 99914 Electrical or Telecommunications Trades Assistant
    • 341111 Electrician (General)
    • 341112 Electrician (Special Class)
    • 334114 Gasfitter 334111 Plumber (General)
    • 821114 Plumber’s Assistant
    • 342414 Telecommunications Technician
  • Builder Licensing

    MBA Group Training delivers the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) to satisfy the training requirements of a C Class Builders licence application in the ACT.

  • Cancellation Policy

    If we receive your cancellation a minimum of 5 working days prior to the event you are entitled to a full refund. Registrations cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the commencement of the training being delivered or failure to notify of non-attendance will result in the full training fee being charged.Substitutions will be accepted. MBA Group Training reserves the right to cancel any training initiative or to postpone it to an alternative date. All registered participants affected by such postponement will receive a full refund or be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available training course.

  • High Risk Training

    Are you looking to complete High Risk Training? MBA Group Training can provide you and your company with the training necessary to undertake safe work practices in the construction industry. In conjunction with Southern Training Organisation, MBA Group Training offers High Risk Licence Training. 

    If you’re working in the construction industry, a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) is required for working in a variety of hazardous environments, and for the operation of certain types of heavy or hazardous equipment.

    The High Risk Work Licensing system presently provides for 30 classes of high risk work, divided into 5 categories:

    • Scaffolding work
    • Dogging and rigging work
    • Crane and hoist operation
    • Forklift operation
    • Pressure equipment operation

  • Recognition of Prior Learning

    Do you already have skills and knowledge that you’ve gained through previous training, work or life experience? MBA Group Training can formally recognise your previous training within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This means that we may be able to provide credit towards your study with us! 

    If eligible, in order to have your previous training, work or life experience recognised formally, we require a Recognition of Prior Learning application to be completed and returned to the office or emailed to training@mba.org.au

    In addition, MBA Group Training also recognises the AQF units of competency, qualifications and statements of attainment issued by all Registered Training Organisations in Australia.
