Strong recovery in ACT Building & Construction Jobs & Wages

Data released by the ABS for the week ending 13 November 2021 shows that employment in the building and the construction industry has recovered strongly following the ACT’s lockdown.
During August total construciton jobs fell to 15,331 in the ACT, however this has now recovered to 20,143 in November, 4.5% higher than pre-Covid levels and 434 higher than last month.
Wages in the ACT building and construction industry have also increased significantly, 15.0% higher than pre-Covid levels.
The strength of the jobs recovery in the ACT’s construction industry has a positive sign, it has not been as high as some industries recovery since March 2020 including agriculture (16.1% higher), utilitiies (9.0% higher), finance (13.3% higher), professional (8.3% higher) and health care (7.0% higher).
