Reminder: ABCC’s Functions Have Transferred to Fair Work Ombudsman

From 10 November 2022, the Australian Building and Construction Commission’s role enforcing the Fair Work Act 2009 in the commercial building and construction industry has transferred to the Fair Work Ombudsman.  You will need to contact Fair Work Ombudsman in relation to any industrial relations matter.

You can find information on the Fair Work Ombudsman’s website about:

• Pay and entitlements including leave, public holidays, hours of work, breaks and rosters, allowances, penalty rates and other payments
• The role of unions
• Right of entry and union membership
• Industrial action
• Protections at work including protection from discrimination
• Ending employment
• Independent contractors

If you have a current matter that is being investigated by the ABCC, you will be advised when it has been transferred to the Fair Work Ombudsman. Until then, you can continue to discuss your matter with your current ABCC contact officer.
