On 2 June 2023 the Fair Work Commission handed down its decision to increase the National Minimum Wage and Award Minimum Rates by 5.75%.
This increase will come into effect from the first full pay period after 1 July 2023.
What if I currently pay over the Award minimum?
If you are already paying employees more than the new Award wage rate, no adjustment may be required. In other words, the increase can be absorbed into the over award payment.
What if I currently have an Individual Flexibility Agreement (IFA) in place?
If you have an IFA in place with any of your employees, you should undertake a better off overall test (BOOT) to ensure you are still paying your employees above minimum award entitlements.
