Media Release – Payroll Tax Exemption Will Provide Boost to Apprenticeships

Posted

Master Builders ACT has today welcomed the ACT Government’s announcement to offer a six month payroll tax exemption for businesses who take on apprentices or trainees.

Master Builders ACT CEO, Michael Hopkins said, “We applaud the ACT Government for listening to our calls to implement increased stimulus measures for apprentices to be able to join the workforce.”

“In June we called on all levels of Government to work together to provide continued financial support for employers of apprentices,” he said.

Mr Hopkins said, “This announcement will benefit both employers who are looking to grow their labour force and apprentices who are looking for job opportunities.”

“The six month payroll tax exemption in conjunction with the Federal Government’s recently announced JobTrainer package will provide support for the 600 construction apprentices currently employed in the ACT’s construction industry,” he said.
