MBA’s Women in Construction Programs

Posted

This month we are celebrating women in the construction industry, with March being Women’s History Month and 8 March being International Women’s Day.

To commemorate International Women’s Day, we will be hosting a luncheon on 16 March 2021, with guest speakers including Australian race car driver, Emily Duggan, and Jo Farrell the General Manager at Kane Constructions. Tickets are sold out for the luncheon, but we will be announcing more Women in Construction events later this month. Find out more about four key women behind this event here.

This year the MBA continues to be an industry leader in encouraging more women to join a trade, by continuing to deliver innovative programs. This includes the successful Women Building Australia program which is running for the third year in a row and is a 9-month mentoring program, connecting women starting their careers with experienced mentors in the industry.

Master Builders has also partnered with SPARK to run the Women in Civil Program which will encourage more females to consider a career in the construction industry. This program will provide participants with specialised accredited training, industry work placements and employment pathways. Read more about the story behind this valuable program here.

We have also teamed up with Ginninderry and MBA member KANE constructions to deliver the 2021 Strathnairn Charity House which will be a project led by females. Proceeds from the sale of the charity house will benefit four local charities.

With the MBA continuing to open more doors for women to join the industry, I look forward to seeing greater representation of females in trades.
