Last Call: Silica Training Must Be Completed by 1 October 2023

It was announced on 15 June 2023 that the Minister for Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety has decided to extend the deadline to meet the mandated silica dust awareness training requirement to 1 October 2023.
PCBUs are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that all workers engaged in or potentially exposed to high risk silica work have completed the 10830NAT course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention.
WorkSafe ACT is actively conducting inspections on construction sites to ensure that the new silica dust regulations are being complied with and we have had reports that several penalties and improvement notices have been issued against companies for failure to comply with the WHS legislation.
