Host employers needed for building and construction work experience program

The Australian Training Council is looking for employers to host students from Years 9 & 10 for 3 to 5 day unpaid work experience placements in October and November. 

About the program

The placements are part of the Understanding Building and Construction Program, the first curriculum-based program that focuses on women in construction for female
and gender diverse students throughout Years 8 -10 in Australia.

The program is designed to encourage female and gender diverse students to consider a school-based apprenticeships program or university pathway as they transition
into Years 11 and 12 and beyond.

What’s involved?

Hosts would be required to host students for 3 to 5 days. Insurance is covered by the ACT Education Directorate and all PPE is provided to the students. Students will have their White Card, Asbestos Awareness Card and Silica Awareness Card.

When are hosts needed?

The work experience weeks are:

  – Week 1 – 19 Oct to 23 Oct 2026

  – Week 2 – 26 Oct to 30 Oct 2026

  – Week 3 – 2 Nov to 6 Nov 2026

  – Week 4 – 9 Nov to 13 Nov 2026

  – Week 5 – 16 Nov to 20 Nov 2026
