Getting ready for the annual wage review: stay compliant

The end of the financial year is almost here and presents an ideal opportunity for employers to review their workplace records and ensure their business remains compliant with employment laws.

Now is the time for employers to check employment documents are current and accurate. Maintaining accurate records is not only a legal obligation but also helps reduce the risk of disputes and compliance issues.

A thorough review is especially important in light of the recent increase to the minimum award wages, effective from the first full pay cycle on or after 1 July 2026. Employers should ensure should ensure:

  • Pay rates have been reviewed
  • Payroll systems have been updated
  • Employees are being paid correctly under the relevant award or agreement
  • Any wage increases are applied from the required effective date
