Family and Domestic Violence Leave

Earlier this week, the Fair Work Commission delivered a provisional judgment that 10 days’ paid Family and Domestic Violence leave should be included in each modern Award.

This is not yet finalised, and there are ongoing opportunities for unions and employer groups to make submissions about the draft wording of the leave arrangements. The FWC is also waiting for a decision from the Commonwealth Government about whether this additional leave will be included under the National Employment Standards (and therefore apply to anyone who isn’t covered by an Award).

Once a final decision has been made by the Commission, we will let members know what you need to do for your employees that are covered by an Award, as well as those who may be on a contract or covered by an enterprise agreement.
