EOTs for Inclement Weather

Posted

The ACT has experienced a rainy week and we encourage all Builders to familiarise themselves with the extension of time provisions contained in their relevant contract.

The wet weather events affecting the ACT region and surrounds, could potentially lead to a delay in works and Builders are reminded and encouraged to claim extensions of time under their building contracts for inclement weather. This extension of time claim should be realistic and account for the consequential effects of inclement weather such as inaccessibility to the site or work health and safety issues which may present.

The ACT Home Building Contract, at Clause 13, describes the process to be followed to notify the client of the extension of time being claimed and the entitlement for costs, where applicable. It is important to make an extension of time claim in accordance with the process described in your contract.
