Safe Work Australia has released guidance on the work health and safety implications of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies in the workplace. While these technologies can improve productivity and support safer work practices, they may also introduce new physical and psychosocial risks if not properly managed. The guidance reminds businesses that existing WHS duties apply to AI and digital tools just as they do to any other workplace hazard.
Member Action: If you’re using AI or digital technologies in your business, make sure any potential WHS risks are identified, workers are consulted, and appropriate training and support are provided.

Safe Work Australia is seeking industry feedback on potential changes to the Model WHS Regulations relating to lead exposure. The consultation considers current challenges and opportunities to improve protections for workers undertaking lead-risk work.
