Additional Training Requirement for Insulation Installers

This week, MBA Group Training began delivering required training for insulation installers in the ACT: EEC001 – Prepare for Insulation Retrofitting within Ceiling Spaces.

This training unit is part of the requirement to enable insulation installers to be certified by the Energy Efficiency Council as an accredited installer. More details on the accreditation process can be found here.

The ACT Government has introduced a regulation under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 to require all residential rental properties in the ACT to meet a new minimum energy efficiency standard for ceiling insulation. This new standard commenced from 1 April 2023, with a phase-in period extending to 30 November 2026.

Delivery of the unit includes one day of face-to-face training, as well as theory and practical assessments. Students are required to have a valid White Card and have completed the following training:

  • 11084NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness
  • CPCCCM2012Work safely at heights
  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
  • CPCCPB3014 Install bulk insulation and pliable membrane products
  • CPCCPB3027 Install ceiling insulation products
  • CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
