ACT Heritage Council Review Report Released

The ACT Heritage Council is an independent, statutory body responsible for a range of provisions under the Heritage Act 2004.

The Council comprises the Chief Planning Executive and Conservator of Flora and Fauna as ex-officio members and nine members appointed by the Minister. Appointed Council members are not government employees.

In August and September 2022, the ACT Government undertook a review of the ACT Heritage Council and the ACT Heritage Unit following concerns raised about the performance of the Council.

At this time, the business of the ACT Heritage Council was suspended.

On 29 November 2022, the Minister for Heritage, released a summary of the findings of this review.
