ACT Fire & Rescue Industry Day

Master Builders ACT CEO and many MBA members attended an ACT Fire and Rescue (ACTF&R) industry day this week to discuss current fire safety issues.

Issues discussed included:

• Update on Building Confident Report recommendations
• Updates on ACT bushfire management standards
• Third party sprinkler certification

A large part of the day was dedicated to discussing the emerging issue of fire safety issues associated with electric vehicles in enclosed or covered carparks. We will continue to engage with the ACT Government, technical experts and ACTF&R on this important topic.

Over lunch, ACTF&R demonstrated their new electric fire truck which is currently in test phase throughout Canberra. This is the first vehicle of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
