With recent amendments to the Workers’ Compensation ACT 1951 now passed, Silicosis has been recognised as a permanent injury.
This is in addition to fatal asbestos-related disease.
National research estimates that over 83,000 silicosis cases will occur in the future as a result of exposure to respirable crystalline silica during work.
