NCC 2022 Amendment 1 will come into effect May 1, 2025

Dear Building Regulation Committee,

I would like to inform you that NCC 2022 Amendment 1 has been adopted by all states and territories and will come into effect on May 1, 2025.  NCC 2022 Amendment 1 introduces various changes to the National Construction Code. These include updates to variations for Western Australia and Tasmania, specifically concerning Part H8, and the correction of errors.

Key Changes and Purpose:

  • Updated Copyright and License Notice:

The amendment ensures the legal framework for the NCC remains current.

  • Variations for Western Australia:

Specific changes address the unique building conditions and regulations within Western Australia.

  • Variations for Tasmania:

Similar to Western Australia, this amendment incorporates specific requirements for Tasmania, particularly regarding Part H8, which deals with energy efficiency.

  • Error Correction:

This amendment addresses any identified inaccuracies in the NCC 2022 text, ensuring clarity and consistency.

  • Improved Readability and Structure:

The amendment also focuses on improving the overall readability and structure of the NCC, making it easier to understand and apply.
