Commencement of weekend inspections – WorkSafe ACT

WorkSafe ACT has informed MBA ACT of the initiation of weekend inspections across a variety of sites, including civil, commercial, and residential projects. Several notices have already been issued as a result of these inspections, and members are reminded that WHS legislation applies at all times, including weekends.

From the inspections carried out so far, three key areas of concern have been identified:

• Working at heights
• Site security, including appropriate fencing and locked gates to prevent public access
• Installation of engineered stone

Members are reminded of the authority of safety inspectors and their legal powers to enter a site without prior notice, except under specific circumstances.
