Denman Prospect
Working closely with the clients on this project, the team was able to build a dream residence for the homeowners. The team used the significant slope to their advantage, by capitalising on the wonderful views with floor-to-ceiling windows. All timber framing was cut and built onsite to ensure the highest quality finish was achieved. The sleek exterior cladding is perfectly complimented by the use of polished concrete and timber chevron floors inside the home. The outcome for the homeowners is a perfect abode with longevity and style to last a lifetime.
Denman Prospect
This project marks the 10th collaboration between both companies and is an extra special project because the home is for the Director of The Mill Architecture and Design. The house is a perfect example of achievable energy efficiency with the teams utilising simple solar passive principles of orientation, thermal mass, insulation, building wrap and high performing windows to achieve an 8-star NatHERS rating. Together, both teams have delivered a beautiful, functional and high-performing family home that is designed and constructed to stand the test of time.
Griffith
Set on a large block of land in the heart of Canberra, this impressive home is bold and modern, occupying almost 450m² of total floor area. The home utilises a variety of materials including honed blockwork, Tyrolean render, stonework, castellated timber and aluminium and composite cladding.
Detailed joinery and finishes throughout the home contribute to the overall sense of opulence while delivering functionality and quality. The attention to detail was executed magnificently from the initial drawings, structural timber frame and steel design to the project management on site.
The home is an outstanding example of a wonderful collaboration between the builder, client and architect.
Crace
This home is a celebration of a passion for carpentry, with talent and raw materials at the heart of the build. This new build is enriched with historic materials, with the 150-year old structural timber rescued from old sheep saleyards in Goulburn. The incredible parquetry kitchen floor was created from individually cut pieces of ash, brush box and grey ironbark – all saved from demolished homes around Canberra. MegaFlora Group cleaned and laid over 8,000 salvaged bricks for the interior. This home is truly a testament to creativity, ingenuity and high-quality materials that stand the test of time.
Red Hill
Perched amongst the treetops with north facing views, the Red Hill home is truly a wonder to behold. The home features a stunning central atrium designed to strengthen the close connection to nature, with large sliding doors allowing for an extended dining space. To further capitalise on the jaw-dropping views of Canberra the teams created a roof top terrace, which can be accessed by a concealed glass elevator. The basement features a car museum which plays into the homeowner’s appreciation for high-quality craftmanship, which is in abundance throughout the abode.
