Norwood Park Crematorium

The Norwood Park Crematorium project by Elevated Constructions involved construction of a highly detailed crematorium and administration building in an operational memorial park environment, requiring sensitive and carefully managed construction.

The build included specialist cremation infrastructure, architectural precast concrete panels, solid masonry construction and high-level glazing. Carefully detailed internal spaces create a calm and respectful environment for families and visitors.

With their thoughtful approach and attention to detail, Elevated Constructions have delivered a calm, refined facility that serves its purpose with dignity.

Commercial Construction $5million to $10million

St Luke’s Early Learning Centre by Monarch Building Solutions transforms a disused church site in Deakin into a modern education and residential precinct.

Three purpose-built brick buildings are connected by translucent polycarbonate linkways to create distinct age-based learning environments.

Different zones are set apart by coloured glazing, and feature purpose-designed joinery and acoustically considered learning spaces. Two new townhouses complete the precinct.

Judges were impressed with the Monarch team’s careful construction planning, strong attention to detail and focus on long-term performance.

The Dhammadharo Buddhist Temple in Lyneham stands as one of the most complete and beautiful examples of Thai temple architecture in the world outside Thailand.

Delivered by Design Construction Industries, the project interprets traditional Thai architecture while meeting the rigorous requirements of Australian engineering, safety and building standards.

Judges were impressed by the balance of detail, design integrity and quality execution.

Acton Emergency Services Station

The Acton Emergency Services Station is a state‑of‑the‑art, purpose-built 24 hour facility that brings together ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Ambulance Service, improving response times, coordination and operational resilience for Canberra emergency services.

Built by Shaw Building Group, it is engineered for performance and incorporates high levels of innovation and sustainable design, using thoughtful human-centred design to safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of frontline responders.

Functional, well-built and thoughtfully delivered, this project supports the community in a meaningful way.

Bean Building Extension and Central Energy Plant

The Bean Building Extension and Central Energy Plant, built by Hindmarsh Construction Australia for the Australian War Memorial, is a standout commercial project that adds significant value and function to this national icon.

The Bean Extension incorporates a new Research Centre and Public Reading Room, expanded collection storage areas, restoration and preservation labs, a film and 3D image studio and staff administrative spaces.

The Central Energy Plant provides the infrastructure for critical services that support operation of the Memorial and boasts the largest closed-loop ground source heat exchanger in the Southern hemisphere.

Judges applauded the Hindmarsh team’s approach to quality and precision, calling this project ‘construction expertise in action’.

Australian War Memorial ANZAC Hall and ANZAC Atrium Redevelopment

Lendlease are the team behind the newly developed ANZAC Hall and Atrium Redevelopment at the Australian War Memorial.

With new gallery spaces, areas of reflection and a cafe and function space, this is a one-of-a-kind build that includes many highly technical elements and bespoke finishes.

This included sandstone quarried from the same pit as the original building façade, and the installation of Super-T beams within the building structure.

This complex, large-scale project balances contemporary design with heritage sensitivity.
