The Christmas break is fast approaching with trips to the coast and family and social gatherings or outings. It has been a long year with several challenges and we would like to remind members to unwind, relax and rejuvenate at home.
With the year winding down it is as important as ever to ensure that you are looking after your mental wellbeing as well as considering the mental health and wellbeing of those around you.
Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (ACT), a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) has a duty to look after both the physical and mental wellbeing of its workers. Being aware of how you are feeling and knowing what you can do to look after your own mental wellbeing is crucial to you being able to support your workers and those around you during this time.
There are a number of support options available if you are in need of assistance, and we would encourage members to make use of these resources if necessary:
Lifeline (24-hour crisis support) –13 11 14 or text line (6pm-12am) 0477 13 11 14
Beyond Blue – 1800 512 348
If you are in need of emergency assistance, call 000.
If you have any questions relating to your work health and safety obligations, please contact our Workplace Relations and Legal Team on 02 6175 5900.
