Before closing sites for the Christmas break, members are reminded to secure all tools, plant and materials. Remove all tools where possible, lock site containers, and ensure loose items are stored safely to prevent theft, damage or injury.
Equally important is updating site signage. Emergency contact details must remain current and clearly visible throughout the shutdown period. This ensures that emergency services, neighbours, or regulators can quickly contact the responsible person if issues arise while the site is unattended, particularly during weather events similar to those we have experienced at similar times in recent years.
A few minutes of preparation before the break can prevent costly delays, safety incidents and compliance issues in the new year.
