Scrivener Dam, a 60-year-old concrete gravity dam responsible for the creation of Lake Burley Griffin, and serves as a conduit between the Upper Molonglo River and the Murrrumbidgee River. Complex Co. has operated and maintained this essential piece of Canberra history for many years, successfully navigating 25 flood events. The dam’s hydraulic release methods vary, requiring a bespoke WHSE & QA Plan. Scrivener has experienced no Lost Time Injuries during Complex Co’s Operations and Maintenance Contract, and Complex Co’s dedicated team have brought the structure into the 21st century through careful and strategic modernisation to manage risks and ensure safety.
Aunty Agnes Shea High School
The Aunty Agnes Shea High School in Taylor is a $94 million project designed to accommodate 800 students. Spanning 13,000 square metres, the school includes a double gymnasium, landscaping, outdoor recreation areas, and a performing arts centre, along with specialised learning spaces. Safety was a top priority for Hindmarsh through the design and construction, with specialised areas meeting stringent standards for ventilation, fire safety, and operational safety. The Hindmarsh team managed various site and project challenges through advanced drainage systems, retaining walls, safety barriers, and an innovative scaffold wrap.
South Jerrabomberra at Tralee
The South Jerrabomberra development in Tralee has achieved outstanding workplace health and safety (WHS) management, with 23 homes completed incident and injury-free as part of Stages AQ and AH. The Village Building Co.’s dedicated WHS Manager, Sean Kenny, has overseen safety across the project, resulting in zero incidents or injuries and efficient workflow management. This development is a great example that shows how innovation in workplace health and safety can drive success in large-scale residential projects.
