October is National Safe Work Month and WorkSafe ACT has selected ‘Stepping Up Safety’ as its topic for 2024. Each week of October 2024 will focus on a different priority in the Work Health and Safety (WHS) framework for the ACT.
Week 2 of National Safe Work Month has focused on small businesses with the motto that ‘Safety Starts Small’.
As a PCBU, a small business is required to understand, implement and maintain the duties and obligations imposed on it by the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and subordinate regulations.
In recognition of the fact that compliance with WHS duties and responsibilities can be challenging, WorkSafe ACT has published a WHS checklist that can assist small businesses to ensure they are meeting the necessary WHS requirements.
